] County Durham Adult Drugs Services
We work with people who have just started treatment on a methadone programme but whose lives are still fairly chaotic.
As an outreach team the DISC workers are in a position to meet people in an environment where they are comfortable and relaxed. Our role is to help place structure into your lives to maintain retention in treatment and to help prepare for a life without drugs. We work with opiate users, stimulant users, cannabis users and any illicit substance.
As part of our program, service users can take part in structured sporting activities which help boost confidence and self esteem. Also, complimentary therapies which help relaxation. Relapse prevention work is undertaken in either one to one settings or group sessions.
How Can I Get On This Project?
Individuals whose drug use is problematic and who wish to make positive changes with regard to their lifestyle.
Illicit substance misusers aged 19 years and upwards living in County Durham.
Anyone can be referred into the project via GPs, Probation Officers, Social Workers, consultants, housing associations, parents/carers, self referrals, schools, school nurses, NECA, drug and alcohol services. Attendance is voluntary.
