Through our work we develop close working relationships with young carers. No matter what our assessments tell us we always put the young carer and their family first.

We work with the young person and their family to implement packages of support tailored to their specific needs, in order to help them cope with some of the stress the caring roles often impose on a young person and their family.

DISC provides help and support to young carers by providing; someone to listen, valuable advice to support them and welcome breaks where possible.

We know young carers help family members with a range of illnesses, disabilities and addictions. This can be extremely stressful and usually affects their own lives.

The most important factor in our work recognises that young carers are unique and have a right to have a childhood.

We know that carers often enjoy their role, our aim is not to interfere with this but to help assess the level of care the young people are undertaking and how this effects their lives.
